Sister Louise Ibert CSJ (formerly Sister Mary Edward), a Sister of St. Joseph for 67 years, passed away at Mount St. Mary Convent in Wichita, Kan., on Aug. 2 at the age of 86. She was born in New Orleans, the daughter of the late Anthony William and Viola Perroux Ibert.

Sister Louise was predeceased by two brothers, John J. and Edward R. Ibert. She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Sister Louise entered the Sisters of St. Joseph in New Orleans in 1946 and professed perpetual vows in 1952. She received degrees from Loyola University in New Orleans and Xavier University in New Orleans.

She taught in Catholic elementary and high schools for 56 years. Sister Louise taught in New Orleans, Cincinnati, Grand Coteau, Harahan, Franklin, Norco, in New Roads at Catholic Elementary Pointe Coupée and Sacred Heart School in Baton Rouge.

In 2004 Sister Louise retired and eventually moved to Mount St. Mary Convent in Wichita.

Mass of Christian Burial was offered Aug. 6 at the convent.
