Bishop Michael G. Duca issued the following statement on the appointment of Msgr. Francis Malone as bishop-elect of Shreveport:  

“I am delighted to hear that Msgr. Francis Malone has been chosen as the third Bishop of the Diocese of Shreveport. Bishop-elect Malone is known in his home Diocese of Little Rock as a beloved pastor and experienced administrator. I am sure that he will be a loving and faithful shepherd for the Diocese of Shreveport. I know that Bishop-elect Malone will be embraced and accepted quickly by the faithful of the diocese, just as I was welcomed over a decade ago. He has my prayers and support.”  

Msgr. Malone is a priest of the Diocese of Little Rock, Arkansas, and currently serves as Chancellor for Ecclesial Affairs and pastor of Christ the King Church in Little Rock. The appointment was publicized today in Washington, D.C, by Archbishop Christophe Pierre, apostolic nuncio to the United States.
